Does anyone here like wine? I am a wine lover and would love to hear anyones recommendations. Boones farm and grocery store wine do not count. Not saying they can't taste good but....

I will have to try that.
I am a big 'ol wino myself and am always looking for new stuff to try. My current faves are: Firesteed pinot noir-- about 15 bucks or so, but I've found it at Costco for less (the only reason I'm a Costco member- their wine deals!) 7 Deadly Zins-- I've found it anywhere from 15$ to 20$, but it is delish. Probably my all time favorite, and the first wine I ever tried that I actually liked-- Rosemount Estates Shiraz. It's about 10$ or so If you're looking for a really nice, special bottle, my favorite white wine is Rombauer chardonnay. It's about 35$, so it's not for every night, but it is incredible. I don't really care for chardonnay, but this is different. It's really buttery and full bodied. On a side note, I got an email yesterday that my hubby and I are having a wine tasting with David Ryan Harris on the Mayer cruise next month-- very excited about that. Is anyone else around here even going? |

mmm I love wine.
We are turning into snobs I'm afraid. Over the holidays we bought some Jordan Cab that was exquisite. The Rioja by Marces de Risqual (sp) from Spain is awesome. I'm a huge fan of Portuguese Douro's and Ports. They're well priced and you can pair them with so many things. Our favorite as of late has been a 2006 Crasto. I'm also a huuuuge fan of the New Zealand Sav Blanc by Nautilus. It's a fantastic summer wine or if you're in the mood to "imagine" summer. www.nautilusestate.com/pr...=93&v=2877 I also love the red and white table wines put out by the /www.bonnydoonvineyard.com/ Bonny Doon vineyard. My team mate at work is from Chile and she's introduced me to some lovely wines too. Their wines are very smoky and fruity. ![]() I am in LOVE with Rebecca and I don't care who knows it!!! |

Oh Marcy,
The best way to learn wine is to DRINK IT. Lot and lots of it. I am looking forward to trying those. Thanks ! Okay, for those that don't like wine what do you drink? I am a guiness girl, I hate Bud, Mich and Corona (piss in a bottle). When I drink mixed it is Gin and tonic. I am really not a lush....I just play on on TV |

damn straight. here in Colorado there is a fantastic "little" chain called The Rio. I make their margs homemade....mmmm
www.riograndemexican.com/ They're so strong that they only let you have 3. When I was in college there was only the "main" store in Fort Collins. It was a hole in the wall at the time and we used to get sooo shitfaced. haha ![]() I am in LOVE with Rebecca and I don't care who knows it!!! |

Chateau St Michelle Riesling is delicious. It's still pretty cheapo, but I love it.
Caymus Condundrum is probably my favorite white that I drink regularly. I'm always a sucker for a good Pinot Grigio though. I don't have a favorite but there was an amazing one at the wedding I went to a couple weeks ago. As for reds, I'm not huge on California reds, but I LOOOOVE Italian reds. I had the most amazing Barolo was I was in Italy. 10 euro a glass and soooo worth it. I suck at names. I should really pay attention to what I'm drinking. I mostly just drink and say mmmmm delicious without taking note of the name. Ha. -Marianne

I am looking forward to bringing this list to my fav wine shop. There is a vineyard in NY I am trying to remember. I had the yummiest wine there. It was not like any wine I have had before. If I can remember it I know it can be ordered. Really I am not a lush.

I like Penfold's Cab/Shiraz and Polka-Dot Riesling.
My best friend's hubby is a wine distributor and had some of the Polka-Dot. It was so good! Also, I got a bottle of Red Guitar for Christmas but I haven't tried it yet. Anyone know if it's good? ![]() ...and they use PCs. |

haha we gave that as a gift but haven't tried it! You'll have to let me know how it is! I want to try it. I'm making dinner for my best friend from college tomorrow and I need to think about the menu so that I can pair some wine with it.

I know he is not exactly wine but I was looking at the pic thread of JM and I think he is improving with age like a fine wine. He really is so handsome.

How the heck have I missed this thread?!?! I jump for joy when my Food & Wine comes every month...ooohh...the Aug issue should be here soon since it's
the start of July!!!
I absolutely adore a good Mosel River Valley Reisling. My favorite is Schmitt-Schonne and is $8. It's crisp and fruity and slightly sweet, perfect for drinking on it's own, but it's got a good acidity to it so it matches well with a variety of things.
