GO USA!!! Nastia and Shawn took Gold and Silver!!!
Although, I'd rather have the silver since it's less likely to kill me. The Chinese made the gold medals out of a lead alloy and little bit of gold. AND! the amount of gold used is less than the amount specified by the IOC to be in the gold medals. They've now had to issue a warning to all gold medal winners not to lick, bite, kiss, or suck their gold medals since they could get lead poisoning. Way to go China!

I definitely cried when Nastia won...it was such a moment between her and her dad. I'm kind of ridiculous though. I'm glad she beat Shawn out though,
she definitely deserved it and I don't feel like she gets enough credit. Sooo glad we got gold and silver though.

SO SO SO SO happy Ryan Lochte got an individual gold!!!
And Rebecca Soni!! How awesome was that?? I gotta say, I am kind of over the whole Phelps thing. I think he is amazing and what he's doing is incredible, but so many awesome athletes are getting completely overshadowed by him and I hardly think that's fair.

Speaking of Phelps, I was reading an article about him today and I completely forgot about his DUI arrest in '04. I'm surprised the media hasn't
reminded us of that repeatedly with all the coverage of him.
And I agree Mer. I mean, I get it and it is a big deal--well, it's history actually. But Damn! Other people are kicking butt here too! Oh and my cousin Chris swam with Lochte at Florida.

I have to say, we were at the jazz bar at the Intercontinental hotel in Kansas City for Phelps' last medal last night, and it was one of the most exciting
sports moments I've experienced. Everything stopped dead for the race and everyone in the bar gathered around the one plasma tv they had on the wall and
cheered on the U.S. The whole place was screaming and just erupted into cheers when we won. It was awesome.

YAY!!! I'm so proud of Shawn and Nastia! They went 1-2 on beam finals, but this time Shawn got the gold! And freaking finally got a decent score! Then
Jonathan Horton took silver on high bar! YESS!!!!

micah, i don't hate on shawn at all. i just think nastia is the better gymnast and am glad she's finally
getting the respect and attention that she deserves. yay for shawn getting the gold on the beam! in 2012, shawn will be 20 and nastia will be 22
("old" for a gymnast) so i think it's a safer bet that shawn will return and try and win the all-around then!
i'm glad phelps won his 8 golds, but i'm kind of sick of hearing his name. yay for lochte! handball and trampolining are kind of legit awesome! |

gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh water polo girls, AGAIN lost in the last seconds!!! not as bad as sydney when they literally lost in the last second, this one was with 26
seconds left. but oh man, that sucks big time.
i hope the men can pull out something spectacular tomorrow.
